What's new? |
Streetlight just rounded out its fifth year of publication and we hope for many more. Our staff is working right now to incorporate the magazine and seek nonprofit status as a 501(c)(3) organization. We will post news about this and other projects along with our 2007 call for submissions shortly. Our most recent offering, Issue #5 from the fall of 2006, is currently available free of charge at Gravity Lounge, Read It Again Sam, Cville Coffee, local libraries and The Living Space.

How
can I contribute?
|
Streetlight is not accepting submissions at this time, but we expect to start considering material for our next issue in the near future. Submissions should be addressed to the appropriate editor for their genre at:
Streetlight prefers to publish contributors who reside in, or have some connection to Charlottesville, VA, and the surrounding areas. The magazine also considers manuscripts without regard to geographic boundaries, but with a bias toward Central Virginia contributors. All submissions should include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). Submissions without an SASE, or with insufficent return postage, will not be considered. Please do not send submissions by registered mail, or by any means requiring a recipient signature. Prose Streetlight prefers prose submissions of under 8000 words (or 24 pages). All prose submissions should be in 12 point, Times Roman type, double-spaced, on 8 1/12 x 11 inch paper, with one inch margins. Pages should be numbered, and stapled or clipped together.
Poetry submissions should be no longer than ten pages, no more than five poems. They may be single spaced. Use fancy fonts only when the poem specifically calls for it.
Artwork is
printed in grayscale. Please do not send unsolicited originals. Send your works on CD (preferably as TIFF or PDF files with at least 350 dpi) or as scanned or printed reproductions. Works must be publishable in black and white and fit on a 6 x 9" page dimension. Simultaneous submissions are permitted, provided the author relays in a cover letter where the manuscript is also under consideration. Streetlight seeks only first rights to publish an author's work. Copyright ownership reverts fully to author upon publication in Streetlight. As a courtesy we ask that authors acknowledge their publication in Streetlight in any subsequent publication, and grant Streetlight permission to reprint material in subsequent Streetlight publications, such as an anthology. |
